What kind of people have cosmetic dental treatments?
|Will it be obvious I've had treatment?
This will depend on how radical the changes are, but usually people who know you well will notice the improvement to your smile. Others will notice how good you now look, but will often find it hard to tell exactly why. And those who have never met you before will simply think you have a great smile!
How do I know if I need smile rejuvenation?
If your smile has faded or darkened and your teeth are a little chipped or worn, then smile rejuvenation may be the treatment for you. This process, combining tooth whitening and cosmetic contouring, will revitalise your smile in only one or two appointments.
If your teeth are not suitable for whitening or can not be whitened or if you want to achieve an even whiter appearance, porcelain veneers will resolve this cosmetic problem as well.
Even if there has been significant tooth surface loss, or the loss of multiple teeth, it is still possible to rebuild the entire dentition and re-establish function and appearance.
What is instant orthodontics?
Many adults would rather not wear braces for 1-3 years, or have had orthodontics previously and the teeth have moved again, choose instant orthodontics instead. Custom-made porcelain veneers or crowns are used to straighten crowded teeth, reduce protrusion or close gaps. In recent years, this concept has been developed to new levels, making surprisingly radical and natural-looking changes possible.
How can I replace missing teeth?
Implants and new aesthetic bridging techniques ensure that, even if you have missing teeth, there are still ideal aesthetic treatments available to restore your smile.
Is it expensive?
Costs vary, depending on the services provided and the number of teeth treated. The costs reflect the skills of the dentist, the quality of the equipment and materials used, as well as the amount of time required. At Designersmile we are completely committed to quality, at a affordable price.
Designersmiles many satisfied customers attest to the value of their investment, which in many cases enhanced their quality of life by improving their self-image and self-confidence.
Fees are discussed candidly, and clients are provided with a treatment plan containing a full breakdown of costs at the consultation.
Will the treatment hurt?
We endeavour to make the entire experience as relaxed and stress-free as possible. Even if you do require a local anaesthetic, thanks to modern techniques this can be administered with the minimum discomfort.
Do I have to take special care or change my eating habits after treatment?
Porcelain veneers and crowns don't stain and are designed to take as much wear as your natural teeth. However, one should never use one's teeth as tools, such as for cracking nuts or opening bottles and tearing off biltong! After treatment, you should follow a normal oral hygiene routine to maximise the longevity of both your own teeth and your new restorations.
How many appointments will I need?
This will depend on what treatment is required, which will be determined after the initial consultation. As a guide, however, major smile improvements--including tooth whitening, porcelain veneers -- can usually be completed in three appointments.
How long will my new smile last?
The longevity of your new smile will be determined to how well you look after it. An after-care programme will be recommended to you to promote the health of your teeth and gums. As a rule of thumb, however, veneers and/or crowns would be expected to last 8 to 15 years. We advise that whitening treatments should be repeated every 2-3 years.
